Israel’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, HE Yaakov Levy, hosted a lunch for Hadassah National President Nancy Falchuk at his residence in November to raise the profile of Hadassah International and its mission among 20 prominent members of the scientific, journalistic, and philanthropic communities. Ambassador Levy took the opportunity to introduce Mrs. Falchuk to representatives of influential foundations in the Czech Republic, such as Our Child Foundation, Committee of Good Will, and The Olga Havel Foundation.

On a visit to the Hadassah Medical Center in November, delegates from Villiers le Bel, France were addressed by Dr. Michel Nadjari, head of the Hadassah Medical Center’s Ultrasound Department, who told them about Hadassah’s latest high-technology ultrasound equipment, which is enabling Hadassah to save more lives. They also were briefed on the important role Hadassah plays in sharing expertise with colleagues worldwide, and Hadassah’s extensive outreach to the Palestinian community.

Politicians, journalists, and representatives of the prestigious TESA Foundation from Argentina visited the Hadassah Medical Center this fall and were most impressed to learn about Hadassah’s clinical outreach to their country and glad to meet Hadassah’s renowned endovascular neurosurgeon and interventional neuroradiologist, Prof. José Cohen, formerly from Argentina. Prof. Cohen described his cutting-edge work in Hadassah’s Neurosurgery Department.

A high-level delegation from Brazil’s Ministry of Health came to Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem in December to lay the groundwork for the Brazilian Minister of Health’s upcoming visit, slated for the beginning of 2009.

Continuing with its support of the new Trauma Unit at Panama’s Hospital Santo Tomas, the Hadassah Medical Center sent a team to Panama to provide hands-on training for the doctors and nurses in the emergency, surgery, and trauma units.

The group of Australian parliamentarians that visited the Hadassah Medical Center in November were most appreciative of the presentation about pediatric metabolic diseases, delivered by Dr. Stanley Korman, who grew up in Melbourne and now works with Dr. Orly Elpeleg, Director of Hadassah’s pediatric metabolic disease unit.

Paying a visit to the Hadassah Medical Center during their trip to Israel, a “Help the Jews Home” delegation enjoyed a presentation about Hadassah’s role in Israel’s community health centers by Dr. Nava Braverman, head of Hadassah’s Patricia and Russell Fleischman Women’s Health Center.

Mayors from Albania, Belgium, Belize, Buczek, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cote D’Ivoire, Curaçao, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Fiji Islands, Guinea, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, St. Lucia, Tanzania, The Gambia, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, the United States, and Uruguay toured and were briefed at Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem while in Israel for the Jerusalem International Conference of Mayors on September 16.

A group of people from Germany visited the Hadassah Medical Center in mid-September and expressed their admiration for our hospitals following a presentation by a young Arab leukemia patient, who conveyed his appreciation for the care he received at Hadassah.
