Launching a breast cancer awareness campaign to motivate Mexican women to perform regular, monthly breast examinations, Hadassah Mexico sent e –mail flyers, publicizing the statistic that 9 out of 10 women discover their own cancers through breast self-examination.

Boosting awareness about Hadassah, the Hadassah Mexico annual agenda (day-to-day journal) has become a tradition. It is replete with photographs and interesting updates and breakthroughs from our Hadassah Medical Center, specifically focusing on Hadassah International’s fundraising projects: the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower, Blood Bank, Pediatric Department renovation, Stroke unit, Lithotripter, and Radiotherapy. The agenda also includes different pathways to fundraise for Hadassah, such as Yerzheit and Remembrance donations to honor a loved one.

Through an on-line campaign, Hadassah Mexico inspired its supporters to purchase New Year’s greeting cards for their families and friends, with the proceeds earmarked for the Pediatric Department renovation at Hadassah-Hospital Mount Scopus.

A team of Hadassah leaders from New York, including Hadassah International President Helaine Ohayon, were special guest speakers at Canadian Hadassah WIZO’s National Board meeting this fall, crystallizing for their leaders Hadassah International’s mission and vision and participating in an interactive fundraising presentation entitled, “Four Steps to Major Gifts Fundraising...If you don't ask, you don't get.”

Hadassah New Zealand-Auckland was privileged to have the Hon. Chris Finlayson, Minister for Arts, Culture, and Heritage, as guest speaker at their 2009 Annual General Meeting (AGM), where 80 attendees heard him speak about his three visits to Israel and his belief in the importance of philanthropy and charity.

With the support, sponsorship, and artistry of internationally renowned Luxury Brands, Hadassah Switzerland conceived and hosted a luxury auction, featuring designer apples, as well as luxury watches, exclusive skincare products, couture handbags, and original paintings and sculptures, raising 75,000 Swiss Francs for the renovation of the Pediatrics Department at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus.

A collaborative medical venture in pediatric community health care between Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne and the Hadassah Medical Center has been launched under the umbrella of AUSiMED---the bilateral initiative established by Hadassah Australia. A pediatric fellow from Israel is slated to begin an academic exchange at the beginning of 2010.

Hadassah Germany Board Member Regine Sixt, founder of the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Association and co-owner with her husband of the Sixt Group, the largest international car rental and leasing company, placed an advertisement in her company magazine, inviting people to “dry little one’s tears in Hadassah.” How? By donating to her foundation in support of pediatrics at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus.

Creating stronger connections between medicine in the United Kingdom and Israel and heightening awareness of the Hadassah Medical Center’s egalitarian first-rate medicine, Hadassah United Kingdom co-sponsored the 2009 Henry Cohen Visiting Professorship along with the Jewish Medical Association of the UK (JMed), bringing a leading UK physician to Israel to witness Israeli medicine first hand.

Hadassah Panama hosted a week of activities for teens entitled “Go Girl Go” aimed at helping them to achieve better health and well being. Forty teens participated and voted to earmark the funds raised for pediatric trauma treatment and oncology at the Hadassah Medical Center.
