A 39-year-old Israeli man, shot in the head while driving with his wife to a settlement near Ramallah, was airlifted to Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem's Level-One Trauma Unit, where he was stabilized and later operated on successfully.

I am deeply moved by the response of our leaders and donors to the launch of Hadassah International’s Help Hadassah Heal Campaign. Global economic conditions continue to challenge us and threaten the ability of our hospitals to meet their expenses. Once again, the Hadassah Medical Center has been called upon to treat soldiers who have been wounded in the latest war. The Help Hadassah Heal campaign has been designed to expand our international family of contributors.

Leon Masliah, Director General of the Consistoire Central de France (far right), along with several French physicians, visited the Hadassah Medical Center at the end of December. After receiving a general briefing about the Medical Center, they met with Dr. Yoram Weiss, Senior Physician in Hadassah's Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, who explained the workings of Hadassah’s Trauma Unit.

At Hadassah Cuba’s latest meeting, aside from receiving an update on the latest achievements of the Hadassah Medical Center, participants gave a warm send-off to Vice President Dr. Rebeca Tur Behar, who moved to Israel last month. Dr. Tur Behar, pharmacist, long-time volunteer, and the daughter-in-law of President of Hadassah Cuba Dr. Rose Behar, has volunteered in Hadassah Cuba’s Communitarian Pharmacy, which provides medicines to those in need, and presented health lectures to local children. She has also represented Young Hadassah Cuba on visits to Argentina and Canada.

Surgeons at Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem have successfully operated on five patients with an upgrade of the surgical robot originally developed by scientists from the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for use by astronauts in space.
