A film which showcases the Peacecamp Project sponsored by Hadassah Austria, the European Union, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture, and the Karl Kahane Foundation, has been viewed recently by the Committee on the Status of Women and the Committee on Peace of the United Nations in Vienna, Austria. This peacecamp brings together Palestinian, Israeli, Austrian, Slovenian, and Hungarian children to dialogue and interact socially in order to gain greater understanding of each other’s roots, identity, and perceptions.

Hadassah International congratulates Caroline Roboh on the opening of her new film in New York City. Entitled Shem (the Hebrew word for name), the movie tells the story of a British teenager who leaves his busy London life to embark on a trip across Eastern Europe to look for his great-grandfather's grave.

Hadassah Luxembourg held its annual golf tournament and dinner. President Karen Reding-Reuter reports that the tournament lasted all day; during aperitifs, there was a tombola (lottery); and during dinner, a public sale (a "vente aux enchères"). The event ended at midnight, raising six thousand euros for the Hadassah Medical Center!

Prof. Meir Liebergall, Head of Orthopedics at the Hadassah Medical Center, and Dr. Yoav Matan, Director of the Joint Replacement Center at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus, who performed the world’s first computer-guided hip replacement operation two years ago, have pioneered another new technology. They have replaced electro-optics with electro-magnetic technology, further refining computer-guided joint replacement surgery. This new technology not only enhances precision in the operating room, but may also shorten the patient’s recovery period and hospital stay.

Fifteen years ago, Prof. Eitan Kerem, Head of Pediatrics at Hadassah-Mount Scopus and an expert in pediatric lung disease, examined a child from Saudi Arabia with very unusual green eyes. Following comprehensive testing, he diagnosed the child with a rare genetic disease, which leads to a severe lung abnormality. Prof. Kerem never forgot those eyes!
